KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa – July 31, 2024 – We are pleased to announce the arrival of a male cheetah, marking the beginning of a significant new chapter in the reserve’s conservation efforts. This has been made possible through a generous partnership with the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), which has facilitated the transfer of this magnificent predator to his new home. Our cheetah is now out of the Boma and is establishing his territory.

WELCOMING THE NEW CHEETAH

The male cheetah, which arrived on Mkuze Valley Wilderness Reserve as part of the wildlife reintroduction project, has completed his quarantine, and has been released from the Boma into the larger reserve.

We are able to track him and find he is an excellent hunter and has settled in really well.

The Mkuze Valley Wilderness Reserve has successfully completed the reintroduction programme

The cheetah’s quarantine period was completed and the cheetah successfully released into the reserve’s larger habitat. He is being monitored to ensure his integration into the reserve’s ecosystem is seamless.

We will continue to provide updates on the cheetah’s progress and adaptation. The reserve’s dedication to conservation and wildlife protection remains unwavering, and the arrival of this cheetah represents a hopeful step towards the restoration of the region’s natural balance.
